Spencer, N.C. (Aug. 15)—Thomas the Tank Engine is getting ready to ride off the pages of the beloved storybooks and into the hearts of little fans. Little girls and boys will soon have the opportunity to meet Thomas the Tank Engine in person! Our favorite No. 1 engine is set to roll into Spencer, N.C. for the Day Out with Thomas™: Go Go Thomas Tour 2013. All little engineers and their families are invited to take a ride on Thomas and participate in fun Thomas-themed activities. The event, which takes place Sept. 20-22 and 27-29, 2013, will be hosted by the N.C. Transportation Museum and presented by HIT Entertainment.
For 68 years, children have been captivated by the courageous adventures of Thomas and his engine friends. Pulling out of the station for its 18th consecutive ride on the rails, the Day Out With Thomas: Go Go Thomas Tour 2013 will visit more than 40 cities in the United States and Canada. Day Out With Thomas is the only place for families to take a ride with a everybody’s favorite No. 1 engine, Thomas the Tank Engine, and enjoy Thomas-themed activities at the Imagination Station, including stamps, temporary tattoos and hands-on arts and crafts. Each year the tour grows, traveling to new destinations, adding new activities and welcoming new visitors.
Thomas the Tank Engine, star of Thomas & Friends™, on PBS KIDS® and Sprout® kicks off his Day Out With Thomas: Go Go Thomas Tour 2013 in March and is expected to welcome more than one million passengers through November. During Day Out With Thomas, children will ride with Thomas against scenic backdrops while discovering some mysterious surprises! Day Out With Thomas 2013 activities include:
· A 25-minute (approximate) ride with Thomas the Tank Engine
· Games and activities featuring a mystery element
· The opportunity to meet Sir Topham Hatt™, Controller of the Railway
· A Thomas & Friends Imagination Station; featuring stamps temporary tattoos, hands-on arts & crafts, train tables, and coloring sheet
· Storytelling, video viewing, live music from Mr. Billy, Railroad Magician Ryan Short, two bounce houses, a hay bale maze, Thomas play tables and much, much more.
The tour provides a unique, interactive family experience at every station, offering a variety of entertaining activities that reflect the local flavor of each stop. At the N.C. Transportation Museum, activities will include: Storytelling, video viewing, live music from Mr. Billy, Railroad Magician Ryan Short, two bounce houses, a hay bale maze, Thomas play tables and much, much more. The N.C. Transportation Museum is also a state historic site, featuring transportation exhibits of all kinds, four exhibit buildings and the largest Roundhouse still remaining in North America, full of locomotive exhibits.
The approximately 25-minute train ride with Thomas the Tank Engine will depart every 45 minutes, rain or shine, with departure times at from 10 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Fridays, 9:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Saturdays and 9:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sundays. Tickets for the Day Out With Thomas: Go Go Thomas Tour 2013 are $18 plus tax for ages two and up.
