Autumn Train Excursions

Autumn Train Excursions offer rare daylight train trips and spectacular scenery during the height of the autumn leaf season. Both round trip trains depart from the N.C. Transportation Museum in Spencer. These excursions are sponsored by the N.C. Transportation Museum Foundation and the Watauga Valley Chapter of the NRHS.
Sat., Oct. 30:
The Virginia Autumn Special


Including passenger pick-up in Greensboro, travelers will see amazing views of the North Carolina Piedmont and Central Virginia. After crossing the Dan and Roanoke Rivers, travelers
can enjoy an outing in Roanoke, Va.
Sun., Oct. 31:
The Blue Ridge Special


Excursion passengers will ride the rails through North Carolina's most scenic region. Climbing the famed Blue Ridge "Loops" and traveling through several
tunnels on the path to Asheville, the trip includes an outing at Biltmore Village.
Ticket prices vary according to seating selection. Click Seating Options and Pricing below for more information. An advance sale for MEMBERS ONLY (limit 6) will take place at 9 am, July 26 and 27. Tickets are available to the general public beginning at 9 am, July 28.
