With Participation from Ford Motor Company, The North Carolina Transportation Museum Salutes the Ford Model T

Spencer, N.C. – The North Carolina Transportation Museum hosts a celebration of the Ford Model T Saturday, Aug. 2, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in combination with the Museum’s annual All-Ford Show. This is one of the only Model T centennial celebrations in the Southeast, and is one of a series of regional events Ford Motor Company is participating in nationally. Our goal is to gather 100 Model T Fords for this year’s event. While the celebration will focus on the Model T, all Fords are welcome, with a special section available for T-marcs like the Thunderbird, the Taurus and the Topaz. Awards include the Director’s Award, and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place Best of Show People’s Choice awards.
Booth space is also free and available by request from the N. C. Transportation Museum.
Auto clubs, individual Ford owners, collectors and families will attend. Interactive children’s activities will be available, like a miniature auto assembly line. In keeping with the Model T theme, the Museum will also offer a T-bone steak dinner, including tossed salad, T-rolls, and tea, in air conditioned comfort just across the street from the N. C. Transportation Museum. Cost for the dinner is just $25.
The N.C. Transportation Museum, located in historic Spencer Shops, the former Southern Railway repair facility, is part of the Division of State Historic Sites, Department of Cultural Resources.  The Museum is located just five minutes off I-85 at Exit 79 in Spencer, N.C., and about an hour from Charlotte, Greensboro or Winston-Salem. For more information visit www.nctrans.org.  The Model-T celebration corresponds with the N.C. Department of Cultural Resources 2008 theme of “Telling Our Stories.”  For information on the Department of Cultural Resources, call (919) 807-7385 or visit www.ncculture.com.
